Do you only work with Asian languages?
Our specialist focus is Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin and Traditional) and Korean translation between European languages, primarily German and English. For the vast majority of requests, this covers everything a European business needs for Asian market entry or communication. We do not take general translation assignments outside this focus, because specialisation is what makes us useful.
What does a cultural review actually involve?
A cultural review is a second pass by a linguist who asks: would a native speaker of the target language receive this the way it was intended? In Japanese, this involves checking keigo levels (formal register), implied vs stated meaning, and whether the text reads naturally rather than like a translation. In Chinese, it involves register, regional variation and the significant differences in how commercial communication is structured across cultures. Most translation skips this step, which is why most translation sounds like translation.
Can you provide certified translations?
Yes. We work with sworn translators for official certified translations of Japanese, Chinese and Korean documents for submission to German authorities, courts and government bodies. Certified translations carry the translator statement required by German administrative and legal processes.
How do you handle technical terminology in Japanese?
For new clients, we build a project-specific glossary in the first engagement that maps your product names, brand terms and technical vocabulary to their Japanese equivalents. This glossary is then maintained and applied in every subsequent project. For existing clients with glossaries, we review and update terminology at the start of each new project. This is the only reliable way to achieve consistency across a body of translated content.
What file formats do you accept?
We accept Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, HTML, XML, InDesign, XLIFF, SRT and most standard formats. For scanned documents in Japanese, Chinese or Korean, we include OCR processing as part of the project. Deliverables are returned in the same format as the source unless you specify otherwise.
How long does a standard translation project take?
For documents up to 2,500 words, Studio projects deliver in 5 business days. Express projects guarantee 48-hour delivery for the same scope. Signature projects involving large volumes or multiple language pairs are scoped individually with a milestone delivery schedule. Rush delivery under 24 hours is available as an add-on for suitable documents.
